Kayra Okuzgozu
The Öküzgözü variety, (pronounced “O-kuz-goez-zu”), is an ancient and indigenous variety to Turkey. It is grown in the Elziğ region of Turkey, where the soils are red clay with decomposed granite and lime, clay soils. The nearby Keban Dam imparts a cooling influence on the microclimate.
The wine was matured for 10 months in oak barrels, adding spicy complexity to the final wine.
Lively bright, ripe red fruit aromas with gorgeous acidity are the hallmarks of this fantastic wine. Just a hint of menthol and exotic spices of the ancient mid-orient combine with supple tannins that integrate seamlessly with the smoothness of the finish. A truly undiscovered treasure of Turkey.
